Job Description

Salary ranges from $66,000 to $106,000 per year for an on-site role in Arlington, VA, with situational telework opportunities. The Jr Cyber Penetration Tester will support the Red Cell team, conduct assessments of system security, and help build tools to automate discovery or exploitation from a base in Peraton's Federal work.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Red Cell Penetration Testing team in executing assessments of client systems.
- Evaluate the current security posture by identifying vulnerabilities and security controls.
- Support customers with analysis and mitigation of security findings.
- Conduct and document penetration tests of systems, including cloud environments, aligning with NIST 800-53 CA-8 and methodologies such as NIST SP 800-115, PTES, and ISSAF.
- Stay current on attack vectors and exploitation methods affecting networks.
- Support incident response teams through capability enhancements and reporting.
- Help maintain Red Cell infrastructure.
- Develop or modify automation tools for discovery or exploitation using bash, Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience, or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
- Basic understanding of networking and security fundamentals.
- Experience evaluating system security configurations.
- Familiarity with common web application vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, and HTTP flooding.
- Experience with penetration testing tools like Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Nmap.
- Foundational knowledge of network routing and switching and assessing device configurations.
- Ability to review findings and perform root cause analysis.
- Capable of working independently or in small teams.
- Must hold and maintain one of the following certifications: CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CEH, CFR, Cloud+, CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, or SCYBER.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Active Secret security clearance.
