Information Security Engineer, Product Security Engineering

Google is looking for an Information Security Engineer to join Product Security Engineering in Sunnyvale, CA. In this role, you will help build and maintain a safer operating environment for both users and developers by strengthening network boundaries, hardening systems and devices, and partnering closely with software engineers to find and fix security issues.

This onsite position supports security reviews and vulnerability work across systems and cloud-focused security strategy. You will use hands-on research, testing, and analysis to reproduce vulnerabilities, assess risk, and drive defense in depth and secure-by-default practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security reviews, research vulnerabilities, and reproduce issues as needed.
• Design secure protocols and systems, and build tests and fuzzers to validate security behavior.
• Review and develop secure operational practices and provide security guidance for engineers and support staff.
• Work on defense in depth and security by default through both one-time reviews and longer term engagements.
• Identify vulnerabilities using techniques such as reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static analysis.
• Respond to vulnerabilities with repros, variant analysis, mitigations, and hardening, with a focus on the security strategy for Google Cloud.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
• 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
• 2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
• Experience identifying and mitigating network security risks using threat modeling and other risk identification techniques.
• Experience in application security, cryptography, network security, or systems security.
• Experience with C++ dynamic analysis and static code analysis.
• Expertise in security assessments, vulnerability management, and security research.
