F-35 Air Systems Cybersecurity Engineer | Active TS/SCI clearance
Job Description
The F-35 Air Systems Cybersecurity Engineer supports the F-35 Lightning II program with General Dynamics Information Technology. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and focuses on information system security engineering across both Air System and Ground Support components.
Responsibilities
- Perform information system security engineering activities to advance secure design and implementation across Air System and Ground Support elements.
- Capture and refine Aircraft System and Ground Support security requirements, ensuring they are effectively integrated through security architecture, design, development, and configuration of Air System and ground support information systems, applying best practices for security implementation within the F-35 Air System.
- Guarantee that the Air System, including the Air Vehicle and Ground Support information systems, is designed, developed, and deployed with requisite security features and safeguards; provide daily cybersecurity engineering support; oversee all cybersecurity deliverables; and verify POA&M resolution and continuous monitoring activities.
- Ensure Security Authorization Packages (SAP) are accurate and complete, and delivered to government oversight (ISSE/IASAE/SCA); witness dry run compliance testing in preparation for Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
- Manage embedded resources, mentor and augment other ISSE/IASAEs on the Air Systems support team, and advise DCI leadership; provide support for Air System, Flight Test Systems, PMO teams and related functional groups.
- Translate requirements into security design, ensuring alignment with the Systems Engineering Master Plan (SEMP), Cybersecurity Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), Cyber Survivability Endorsement (CSE) requirements, and DoW cybersecurity compliance mandates.
- Develop Air System Cybersecurity Policies and Instructions for program-wide issuance by the F-35 CISO; provide engineering and architectural expertise for interoperability, security, and performance; lead the contract ISSE/IASAE team.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- 5+ years designing and developing organizational information systems or upgrading legacy systems, applying security controls across software engineering, system security, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding practices.
- 1+ year of practical airframe or weapons system security experience in secure network and system design, analysis, test generation, test execution, and implementation of weapons system security mechanisms.
- 5 years of experience working on weapons systems platforms as a security engineer.
- 5 years of concurrent experience in system security Certification & Accreditation (C&A) and in Vulnerability Assessment and/or Risk Analysis.
- DoD Manual 8140.03 (612) Security Control Accessor - Intermediate certification.
- Education: MS/MA/BS/BA in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering Information Technology, Information Science, Mathematics, or related IT discipline. Air Systems Experts: allowable substitution permits specific F-35 IT major defense acquisition systems experience to substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis; or a combination of degree and experience in the related fields.
- Work Location: Hybrid workflow with partial onsite support in Arlington, VA.

Work Requirements
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of related experience; may vary based on technical training, certification(s), or degree.
- Certification: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - ISC2.
- Travel: 10-25% travel anticipated.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required.
Salary and Benefits Information
