Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to support the DTRA DSMS contract from Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In this role, you will articulate the value of cybersecurity across the organization, advise leadership on risk and posture changes, and help design, implement, and optimize modern security platforms and procedures. You will work with a distributed team to coordinate inspections, tests, and reviews while communicating security outcomes to government stakeholders and program leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the value of information technology security to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advise leadership on changes impacting the organization's cybersecurity posture, including risk and security posture shifts.
  • Collaborate with a geographically dispersed team to coordinate cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews.
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain plans, instructions, guidance, and standard operating procedures related to the security of the operational environment.
  • Convey security and compliance issues to government leaders and cybersecurity staff in a clear and appropriate manner.
  • Provide status reports to stakeholders and government personnel on cybersecurity metrics, key risk indicators, trends, and compliance.
  • Oversee policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure procedures align with cybersecurity policies.
  • Ensure the successful implementation and functionality of security requirements and information policies consistent with security baselines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage current and prospective customers such as CIOs, AOs, CSSP, and program executives to build trust, explain solutions, and influence action.
  • Deliver and architect modern security platforms (Splunk, Palo Alto, etc.) and cloud-based security platforms (AWS, Azure).

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • IAM Level III Certification (CISSP, CISM, or GSLC) required.
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, methods, and techniques.

  • Travel required: less than 10%

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $187,000 to $253,000 per year. This range is not a guarantee of compensation and may be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements, and could fall outside this range.
