Cybersecurity Engineer

CAСI is seeking a senior cybersecurity engineer to support JIATF-401 as a trusted technical advisor for complex cybersecurity and IT efforts. This role focuses on cybersecurity architecture, integration, and risk-informed engineering decisions across mission, enterprise, cloud, and vendor-provided environments to support DoD counter-UAS objectives and ATO/RMF activities.

This onsite position is based in Alexandria, VA, with a salary range of USD 120,800 - 265,800 per yearly. The role requires a Secret clearance to start and supports up to 25% travel (local).

What you will do

• Act as the senior cybersecurity engineering subject matter expert for JIATF-401 across enterprise, operational, cloud, hybrid, and vendor-supported environments.
• Lead and advise on cybersecurity architecture including system design, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and risk-informed technical decisions.
• Convert mission and operational requirements into secure system design considerations, cybersecurity requirements, and implementation priorities.
• Drive technical discussions on network architecture, cloud security design, boundary protection, system interoperability, and security control implementation.
• Assess cybersecurity risks for both government-managed and vendor-managed systems and recommend practical mitigations aligned to mission needs.
• Lead or support cybersecurity integration for systems involved in initial authorization, reauthorization, major changes, or ATO sustainment.
• Review and advise on security architectures, implementation approaches, control inheritance strategies, test plans, technical artifacts, and assessment results.
• Participate in program reviews, design reviews, integrated product teams, engineering discussions, and senior stakeholder engagements as the cybersecurity engineering lead.
• Coordinate with PMOs, mission owners, system owners, security teams, and vendors to resolve issues impacting authorization, compliance, and interoperability.
• Provide expert consultation on cybersecurity impacts related to cloud adoption, cross-domain or system interfaces, externally provided services, and defense industrial base partnerships.
• Help align technical solutions with applicable Department of War (DoW), Joint, interagency, and organizational cybersecurity requirements.
• Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders, action officers, engineers, program personnel, and contractors.

Required qualifications

• Master’s degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated senior-level experience in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience supporting RMF and ATO activities for DoW information systems.
• Experience with cloud, hybrid, and networked environments, including cybersecurity design and implementation considerations.
• Experience supporting or assessing complex systems with multiple stakeholders, security dependencies, and vendor involvement.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity risk management, security control implementation, and system authorization processes.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with credibility across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to represent the organization effectively in meetings, reviews, and coordination with senior leaders, mission partners, and contractors.
• Active CISSP.
