Cybersecurity Analyst

Strategic Staffing Solutions is offering a contract Cybersecurity Analyst role in Charlotte, North Carolina. This hybrid position pays up to $57 per hour and supports a Prisma Access and SASE migration by reviewing, cleaning up, and documenting Palo Alto Networks firewall policies under the guidance of senior analysts. It is a hands-on opportunity to grow within a collaborative security team and strengthen expertise in enterprise firewall policy management.

Position summary

The Cybersecurity Analyst I role concentrates on reviewing, tidying, and documenting Palo Alto Networks firewall policies to enable migration to a Prisma Access / SASE architecture. You will work under experienced team members to analyze rule bases and help ensure policies are ready for migration.

Responsibilities

• Support the review and analysis of existing Palo Alto Networks firewall security policies across the organization.
• Identify redundant, shadowed, unused, and overly permissive rules under the direction of senior analysts.
• Document current-state firewall policies, rule intent, and business justification for each rule or rule group.
• Assist with data gathering and inventory efforts for security policy objects such as address groups, service groups, and application filters.
• Tag, categorize, and organize rules to prepare them for migration to Prisma Access / SASE.
• Contribute to the team knowledge base and maintain up-to-date documentation of work performed.
• Collaborate with business partners and IT teams to validate rule ownership and traffic requirements.
• Follow established change management requirements and processes.
• Participate in team meetings, status updates, and project planning sessions.
• Escalate findings and questions to Analyst II/III team members as appropriate.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of experience in network support, firewall administration, or a related IT or cybersecurity role.
• Hands-on experience or coursework with Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, NAT, and common protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret firewall security and traffic logs.
• Familiarity with firewall rule base concepts such as zones, address objects, and security profiles.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Palo Alto Networks PCCET or PCNSA is preferred.
• CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+ is preferred.
• Cisco CCNA is a plus.
• Experience supporting a large enterprise network is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to personal and team success.
