Job Description

DirectDefense is hiring a contract Application Security Consultant in Englewood, CO (onsite) to assess customer apps, validate findings, and drive remediation guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer applications to identify and exploit vulnerabilities
  • Partner with development teams to remediate findings and improve application security outcomes
  • Execute dynamic testing and static code reviews to uncover security issues and weaknesses
  • Use industry-leading security testing tools, with a focus on application testing workspaces such as Burp Suite
  • Stay current on application security tools and methodologies, including OWASP ASVS

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in network/infrastructure security and penetration testing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience, classroom project work, or internship)
  • Strong understanding of application security concepts and common vulnerabilities
  • Experience performing dynamic testing and static code reviews
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools, specifically Burp Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security topics clearly to varied audiences
  • Automated and manual application testing experience is a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Offensive security certifications such as OSCP, BSCP, OSWE, GWAPT, or related credentials
  • Knowledge of common web application vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
  • Understanding of cryptography, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to security concerns
  • Communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork
  • AWS experience is a plus

  • Salary (stated): USD 90,000 - 100,000 per year
  • Salary range (compensation range section): 100K-108K plus up to 10% annual bonus
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours a week
