Job Description

Raytheon is hiring a Senior Software Security Engineer in Tucson, AZ to help deliver security software for deployed missile systems. In this onsite role, you will contribute to application and embedded real-time missile software, covering design, development, integration, testing, and the application of system security principles.

The position focuses on translating system-level security goals into source code level implementations, with close collaboration across the Systems Security Engineering team and interaction with the customer community to support technical design review and verification of system maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, integration, and testing of real-time missile software for both application and embedded components.
  • Apply System Security principles to the design and implementation of missile software applications.
  • Develop software applications in C and C++ across a variety of computing platforms.
  • Understand how engineering work impacts the overall missile system “big picture,” and develop or review detailed solutions at the source code level.
  • Work closely with the Systems Security Engineering team to define and implement requirements.
  • Operate in a common development environment to enable program teams to leverage specific capabilities.
  • Interface with the customer community to review technical design and support verification of system maturity.
  • Apply knowledge of real-time software design and performance implications tied to specific System Security implementations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant software experience.
  • Experience with C / C++.
  • Experience with Xilinx UltaScale+ MPSoC, Versal, or similar embedded processors.
  • Experience with embedded OS such as VxWorks, Embedded Linux, or similar.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Level U.S. security clearance prior to the start date, with program access afterward.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to start.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, since only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

    • ARM Architecture
    • Secure boot concepts
    • Cryptographic Algorithms
  • Experience designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real-time security-oriented solutions on Department of Defense (DoD) programs (embedded experience highly preferred).
  • Experience using security-relevant tools and devices for security auditing, network security, host/server security, communication security, or policy management.
  • Experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
  • Experience using Agile/Scrum/Kanban frameworks and development environments.
  • Experience using software configuration management and bug tracking tools.
  • Experience with Python / Perl.
  • Knowledge of modern computer architectures and hardware technologies including PCIe, GPIO, I2C, SATA, FPGAs, and ASICs.

  • Onsite: Employees in onsite roles will work primarily onsite, including production and maintenance employees essential to development of products.
