Job Description

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Software Security Engineer to support security software for deployed missile systems in Tucson, AZ. The role centers on real-time and embedded missile software design, with an emphasis on applying system security principles and partnering with Systems Security Engineering and customers to mature technical designs.

Location and Employment Details

  • Location: Tucson, AZ (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 132,400 - 251,600 per yearly
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Level U.S. security clearance prior to start, with U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility
  • Work Model: Onsite; employees work primarily onsite to support development of products

Summary of the Role

This position provides security software for deployed missile systems. You will focus on real-time software and embedded missile software design, applying system security principles, and collaborating with the Systems Security Engineering team and the customer community to review technical designs and support verification of system maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of real-time software design and account for performance implications tied to specific System Security implementations
  • Contribute to application and embedded software design, including development, integration, and testing of real-time missile software
  • Apply System Security principles to the design and implementation of missile software applications
  • Develop software applications using C and C++ across a variety of computing platforms
  • Evaluate how engineering efforts impact the missile system “big picture,” and develop or review source-code level solutions
  • Work closely with Systems Security Engineering to define and implement requirements
  • Operate in a shared development environment to support program capability and leverage specific capabilities
  • Interface with the customer community to review technical design and support verification of system maturity

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in STEM and minimum 10 years of relevant software experience
  • C / C++ experience
  • Xilinx UltaScale+ MPSoC, Versal, or similar embedded processor experience
  • Experience with embedded OS such as VxWorks or Embedded Linux
  • Embedded Software Security experience
  • Experience using security-relevant tools and devices for security auditing, network security, host/server security, communication security, or policy management
  • Experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban frameworks and development environments
  • Experience using software configuration management and bug tracking tools
  • Python / Perl experience
  • Knowledge of modern computer architectures and hardware technologies, including PCIe, GPIO, I2C, SATA
  • Experience with FPGAs and ASICs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. security clearance prior to start; U.S. citizenship required

Additional Location Information and Clearance Administration

This role is onsite at the Raytheon campus in Tucson, AZ. Security clearance processing is handled through DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, which adjudicates the clearance process.
